Job Title: Claims Coordinator

Schedule / Terms of Employment: This is a full time (40 hours/week), permanent position

Primary Purpose

The Claims Coordinator assists human resources personnel in administering, evaluating, and managing all employee claims for benefits for both work and non-work-related illness or injury. Maintaining and advising on corporate benefits programs; the candidate will perform all transactional duties dealing with employee benefits and will also offer counsel to employees on the use of these benefits. This role is based out of the NEBC office located in Tumbler Ridge, BC.  Travel to each of the three mine sites will be required periodically.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Follows human resources procedures to allocate benefits such as disability insurance, WCB and medical and life insurance
  • Maintains employee benefit files while ensuring both accuracy and confidentiality
  • Monitors and maintains all various employee benefit programs
  • Monitors and maintains all various employee WCB claims
  • Advises employees on an individual basis on the proper use of their benefits
  • Guides employees through filing for deferred benefit claims
  • Prepares seminars and in-services designed to inform employees of company benefits
  • Attends and supports monthly benefit enrollment meetings
  • Monitors and maintains all various employee WCB claims
  • Processes claims and self-billings of insurance
  • Assists human resources personnel in obtaining and evaluating statistics involving any benefits related to the program
  • Attends workshops and seminars in order to remain in-the-know about various benefits offered by the company

Qualifications and Experience

  • Two plus years working in claims management
  • Certified claims administrator or related certification combined with experience

Skills and Abilities

  • Possesses strong organizational skills
  • Knowledgeable of typical policies and procedures regarding benefits allocation
  • Has experience in applicable self-insured benefits administration
  • Is able to present information to a wide variety of audiences
  • Possesses strong interpersonal skill
  • Demonstrates effective communication skills, both orally and in writing
  • Good decision-making skills
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to stay organized while maintaining confidentiality is also important.
