The 58th Annual Mine Safety Awards were presented on February 25th, 2020 in Victoria, BC. For the second consecutive year, Conuma’s Wolverine Mine was the recipient of the Edward Prior Award. Representing Conuma and Wolverine Mine at the awards banquet were John Schadan, Dudley Miller, Joseph O’Handley, Lee Tovey, Tammy Sworyk, and Joseph Rich.
The Mine Safety Awards were established in 1961 by the province to recognize the safety record of mines in this province. Each year, these awards honour mining operations for their safety accomplishments in the previous calendar year.
The Edward Prior Award is presented to operations that logged between 200,000 and 1,000,000 worker hours and had the lowest injury-frequency rate. This is the third time a Conuma Coal mine operation has received this award.
Congratulations Wolverine Team!
