COVID Update#4

April 16, 2020

To: All Conuma Coal Resources (CCR) Employees
Re: COVID-19 Update 4

Once again, we would like to express our sincere thanks to you, your families and your loved ones for continuing to follow social distancing protocols both at work and within our communities. Your continued understanding and focus are greatly appreciated by all of us at CCR and will help us ensure the spread of the virus is stopped.

CCR continues to have no presumed or confirmed cases of COVID-19 of which we are aware. Over the past 5 weeks, 216 employees have engaged in precautionary self-isolation. The majority of these employees have returned healthy to work and we anticipate employees will continue to return to work, following completion of their respective isolation periods.

CCR is consistently monitoring the recommendations from Government and Health Authorities to ensure we are abiding by all of these. We are also in frequent contact with our Occupational Doctor who continues to support us in our response efforts.

Provincial Update to Self-Isolation Periods

The Provincial Government and BC Centre for Disease Control have advised that not all individuals need to selfisolate for a period of fourteen (14) days, stating that a period of ten (10) days may, in many cases, be adequate.
The following information sets out which self-isolation period will be required:
Fourteen (14) day self-isolation period is still required for anyone:
• Arriving in British Columbia from outside of Canada, or
• Who has been exposed to someone confirmed positive with COVID-19.
Ten (10) day self-isolation period is required for anyone:
• Who is sick, and
• Who has NOT been exposed to someone confirmed positive with COVID-19.

Both self-isolation periods require our current return to work protocol to be followed which will be provided to you if you have been required to self-isolate.
For additional detailed information and guidance, please see the following:

What Does This Mean for You and CCR?

• While the current trend in the news is encouraging, WE MUST REMAIN VIGILANT. As we have all heard from leaders in the Federal and Provincial Governments, now is not the time to let our guard down.
• If you are required to self-isolate, take it seriously.
• Continue to remain vigilant when it comes to good hygiene and good respiratory etiquette (wash hands with soap often and cough into your sleeve).
• Practice social distancing (6 feet apart).
• Continue to stay focused while at work and be safe.

Workplace Mental Health

Lastly, we also want to remind you that your mental health is just as important as your physical health. The present situation may give rise to feelings of anxiety, helplessness, and a variety of stress and mental health challenges. These are entirely normal reactions, and it is imperative that these challenges not be ignored or put
to the side. Experts are unanimous in recommending that social distancing does not mean social isolation. Please continue to communicate with your family, friends, and colleagues and maintain as much healthy interaction as you can during this period. Other recommendations from experts on the subject of dealing with stress include increasing your time outside and limiting the amount of information you consume about COVID-19.

In the event you would like to talk with someone about feelings of anxiety or stress, CCR has an Employee Family Assistance Program (“EFAP”) that provides a variety of services to our employees and their immediate family members at no cost to the employee. This third party, professionally managed program is 100% confidential.

Thank you for your time, patience and diligence. By working together and focusing on our health and that of our co-workers, families, loved ones and communities, we will get through this together.

Thank you,

John A. Schadan
President
